Best Review of Samsung Galaxy S

With Galaxy S, Samsung took a strong step forward in the smartphone market, that looks to be a good alternative to the iPhone4. To see how this battle plays out, read the rest of this Samsung Galaxy S review.

The strongest points of the Samsung Galaxy S must be the mighty 1GHz Hummingbird processor, and the fantastic 4-inch screen. Both screen and processor release incredible performance and take the Android OS to a new level.

The Super AMOLED display spans on a generous resolution of 480x800 crowned by very life-like colors. The contrast (500.000 to 1) rivals HD television specs, meaning the images are sharp and crisp. As a touchscreen it responds very well, with little or no lag between commands and the phone's compliance.

The Hummingbird processor also brings outstanding speed of execution, in both video and 3D rendering alike.

The chassis is thin and lightweight, and could be considered somewhat cheap, more so than one would expect from a high-end smartphone. This fact however is a small drawback for keeping this much technology in such a light compact package. The micro-USB is covered by an innovative hard plastic cover that locks in place, and not the regular rubber flap many other phones use.

Default internal memory can be 8 or 16GB, and you can also complement that with another 32GB, with a microSD card.

The 5 megapixel camera works quite well and can shoot 720P video, but does not have a built in flash, so quality drops in poor lighting.

The battery capacity is not all that great, partly because of the large Super AMOLED display. It could remain active for a whole day if you're lucky, but  if used intensely without reducing screen brightness, the battery will need a recharge in a matter of hours.

In the end the device combines great hardware with a not so great software and widgets, and a good 5MP camera that lacks any flash or light source. None of these are a deal breaker though, as the device looks great, fits well in the hand, and brings a generous screen surface, and so this Samsung Galaxy S review will give it a big thumbs up, as a possible next smartphone for you.
